The Milan Cathedral, known as Duomo di Milano in Italian, stands as one of Europe's most distinctive Gothic structures and ranks as the second-largest church in Italy.
Aside from its impressive facade adorned with 3,400 marble statues and 135 spires, you undoubtedly spotted the golden statue on the top of it, depicting the Virgin Mary, affectionately referred to as "Madonnina" in Italian, to whom the cathedral is devoted.
Fun fact: one of the most typical and famous songs about Milan is dedicated to the Madonnina as a symbol of the city around Italy.
